Five US Universities Not Requiring GRE for 2022 Admissions

Although a majority of US universities are still accepting the GRE for 2022 admissions, there are some programs within different top institutions that have either waived GRE requirement or kept it optional either for Spring or Fall 2022 admissions. Here is a list of five institutions where certain programs have waived the requirement or made it optional due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic:

  1. UCLA Samueli School of Computer Science: The School will not be requiring students to take GRE for Fall 2022 admissions. However, students can still submit the GRE on voluntary basis and it will be reviewed by the admissions committee in the holistic application package.
  2. Carnegie Mellon University College of Engineering: Electrical & Computer Sciences department has waived GRE requirement for Spring 2022 admissions. GRE test will not be accepted for this intake.
  3. Stanford University Graduate School of Education: The school will not be requiring GRE for the academic cycle 2022-23. However, some programs are providing students the opportunity to submit their GRE score on voluntary basis.
  4. MIT School of Mechanical Engineering: The school will not use GRE in the admission criteria for graduate admissions in 2022.
  5. University of Michigan at Ann Arbor School of Computer Science & Engineering: The school is no longer requiring the applicants to take GRE for the latest admissions cycle.
